We are conveniently located on Capitol Hill, just a little over one mile from the US Capitol Building.

What apparel can Vandiver Tailors make?

Our firm tailors suits, sport jackets, trousers, dress and casual shirts, vests, formal wear, such as tuxedos and tailcoats, winter coats, casual cotton blazers, polos, and wind-breakers.

What are your quality standards?

The quality of our suits is unparalleled, and we have searched for years to perfect workmanship and craftsmanship. All of our suits are handmade, with half canvas jackets ( full-canvas option at an additional cost). Our clothing can be fully customized. We have a wide array of fabrics/materials available for customization. Our tailors have decades of experience, and we are proud of their commitment to excellence.

Do you offer ladies' apparel?

We offer apparel for all people, regardless of gender. It is our hope to create a customized look that will help you feel like your best self!

Can I just walk into the shop anytime, or do I need to schedule an appointment?

We currently operate out of a store on Capitol HIll. Mr. Vandiver works by appointment only. What Is Your Price Range?

Our prices range from $1750-$5000+ for suits and $250-$550 for shirts.  We have a “half now,” “half-later” system:  At the time of the consultation (or later, if the client doesn’t want to order right away), a 50% deposit is required.  The balance is due at delivery or before shipment.

*Suit and shirt price ranges vary with fabric types/selection/weight/brand, etc., but all have the same quality of workmanship.

What Is Your Turnaround Time?

Our garments are usually completed in 6-8 weeks, but for a fee, we can rush garments.

Do you serve wedding parties?

Yes! We frequently service wedding parties. If we make at least 5 suits for the wedding party, the suit of the person getting married is free.

How Do You Ensure a Perfect Fit?

Measurements are the foundation of any tailor-made garment.  We start with what’s called a muslin fitting. This is a stitched garment which mimics the look, fit, and style of your final garment. When it arrives, you come to the shop to try it on. We make any necessary adjustments to your pattern, and then the final garment is made. When your final garment arrives, it is pressed and prepped for you to try it on for your second and final fitting.  If there are any tiny tweaks at this point, we do so at this time. Old world tailoring usually consists of about 3 fittings, and we try to do it in two.

What Payment Methods Are Accepted?

We accept cash, checks, money orders, all major credit cards. We also use PayPal, CashApp, Zelle, and Square.
